Cristiano Ronaldo é, sem grande sombra de dúvidas, a principal figura da selecção portuguesa. Seja em Portugal ou em Inglaterra, na China ou no Azerbaijão, as mensagens de carinho e de adoração que transmitem ao 7 do Manchester United são incontornáveis.
Mesmo sendo um jogador temido pelos adversários, Cristiano Ronaldo não deixa de ser admirado e referenciado, principalmente pelas mulheres, como constatou a agência Lusa numa reportagem em Baku, capital do Azerbaijão. «Joga contra nós... e depois? Ele é o melhor do Mundo e se pudesse estaria sábado a assistir ao jogo com a camisola que tenho da selecção portuguesa com o nome e a fotografia dele e a torcer por Portugal», confessou Oxanna, uma jovem estudante de Economia na universidade estatal de Baku.
«Descobri-o quando ele foi para o Manchester United. O meu pai falava sempre dele, mas eu não ligava nada. Depois, quando o vi, não quis acreditar. Ele é mesmo um Deus. E a jogar... que vedeta», resumiu, visivelmente encantada.
Por outro lado, os adeptos do Azerbaijão acreditam que não basta a fantasia do português para levar de vencida a sua selecção: «Nós vamos ganhar. É muito difícil jogar aqui e não basta o Ronaldo. Acho que será 1-0 para nós», disse também à Lusa David, outro jovem de Baku. David acredita que Cristiano Ronaldo «é um craque de grande valor» e que poderá mesmo vir a ser «considerado o melhor do Mundo», explicando que as suas fintas e golos «oferecem emoção» a qualquer adepto de futebol.
A obsessão e admiração é tal que há quem tenha fotografias do jogador português na carteira! Marina, estudante de jornalismo, é um desses casos: «Gosto mesmo muito dele. Tenho esta fotografia (postal) e gostava de um autógrafo. Mas se não conseguirem...», explicou, procurando saber o hotel em que está refugiada a Selecção Nacional. A jovem classificou ainda Ronaldo como um «homem cheio de classe e mesmo muito conhecido no Azerbaijão».
O jogador português cumpre sábado, tal como Deco, a 50ª internacionalização, e já marcou 19 golos pela selecção principal do nosso país.
